Responsibilities
Accountable for the clinical, human resource and fiscal aspects of nursing on an adult medical surgical unit for patients with active co-morbid psychiatric and/or behavioral issues. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital mission to provide high quality, safe patient care that promotes high patient satisfaction.He/she should demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills. In addition, he/she must possess clinical expertise in med/surg acute care and psychiatric nursing in order to serve as a resource and role model.10 bed adult medical surgical unit for patients with active co-morbid psychiatric and/or behavioral issues. Flexibility, enthusiastic and willing to care for a varied patient population in a changing environment a must!Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. At least 5 years of med/surg nursing experience; demonstrated nursing leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated flexibility in meeting patient needs. Previous nursing management experience preferred
Qualifications
Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Manager directs all aspects of patient care, which includes managing nursing personnel and material resources in a cost-effective manner, unit planning and the initiation of innovative clinical and management practices with emphasis on retention strategies.
